Nirab Gyawali is a seasoned legal professional with
extensive experience in project finance, infrastructure law, and public-private
partnerships, particularly within the renewable energy and infrastructure
sectors of Nepal. Currently serving as a Legal and Institutional Expert at the
Office of the Investment Board of Nepal, he brings deep expertise in advising
on foreign direct investment, procurement frameworks, and cross-border
transactional law. He has played a key role in structuring and reviewing project
financing and concession agreements, particularly for hydropower and solar
energy projects, leveraging his background in both domestic and international
legal standards.
With over a decade of legal practice, Nirab has served
in prominent law firms such as Pioneer Law Associates and Neupane Law
Associates, where he advised multinational clients and state-owned enterprises
on complex infrastructure transactions, M&A deals, and regulatory
compliance. His portfolio includes drafting model PPP by-laws, contributing to
Nepal’s model Bilateral Investment Treaty, and advising on AML and taxation
matters. His work also extends to litigation, employment law, and digital services,
making him a well-rounded legal advisor for evolving markets.
Nirab holds an LL.B from Kathmandu School of Law and
is completing his LL.M from Peking University’s School of Transnational Law,
where he achieved a strong academic record. He has published academic and
policy-oriented writings on trade, investment, and China-Nepal relations and
has been recognized in several moot court competitions and legal research
contests. Proficient in English, Nepali, and Hindi—with basic knowledge of
Mandarin and ongoing studies in French—he is well-positioned for regional and global
legal engagements in investment and infrastructure law.
